NHIVNA Awards

NHIVNA Best Oral Presentation Award

Awarded for the best oral presentation displayed at the NHIVNA Annual Conference. A NHIVNA-invited expert panel will judge the award and will be reviewing oral presentations based on the following criteria: quality of presentation; quality of research; impact on nursing practice; originality; considered ethical issues (if appropriate).
 

NHIVNA Best Poster Presentation Award

Awarded for the best poster presentation displayed at the NHIVNA Annual Conference. A NHIVNA-invited expert panel will judge the award and will be reviewing poster presentations based on the following criteria: quality of presentation; quality of research; impact on nursing practice; originality; considered ethical issues (if appropriate).
 

Krattinger Rennison Charitable Trust Nursing Research Award

Awarded for an original piece of research presented at the NHIVNA Annual Conference either as an oral or poster presentation. A NHIVNA-invited expert panel will judge the award and will be reviewing presentations based on the following criteria: the principal investigator is a nurse; an original piece of research; demonstrates an understanding of the research process; has an impact on nursing-related HIV policy as well as patient care; research contains an explicit discussion of the relevance of the research to nursing practice/policy; considered ethical issues (if appropriate). Winning presenters will be required to write up their research in the journal HIV Nursing.
 

NHIVNA / Gilead Sciences HIV Nursing Award 2012

The NHIVNA / Gilead Nurse of the year award was set up in 2007 to recognise the outstanding achievements of nurses who have made a significant or unique contribution to the care and quality of life of people with HIV. These contributions could be in relation to:

  • Innovation and excellence in improving patient care
  • Service delivery
  • Multi-disciplinary working
  • Workforce planning
  • Establishing new standards of care
  • Developing new ways of working
  • Something out of the ordinary

All current NHIVNA members are eligible for this award.

Download the application form for you to nominate someone who you feel has made an outstanding contribution in the field of HIV nursing care.

Once completed, please email your application to conferences@mediscript.ltd.uk. The deadline for receipt of your applications is Friday 4 May 2012 and the winner of this prestigious award will be notified at NHIVNA’s Annual Conference in Manchester.
 

NHIVNA / Mediscript Clinical Practice Award

Awarded for a clinical practice initiative that has made an impact on patient care presented at the NHIVNA Annual Conference either as an oral or poster presentation. A NHIVNA-invited expert panel will judge the award and will be reviewing presentations based on the following criteria: effective presentation; must have an impact on patient care; relate to nursing care; contain recommendation for future practice; considered ethical issues (if appropriate).

 

NHIVNA Scholarships

NHIVNA Travel and Accommodation Scholarships

NHIVNA is pleased to able to offer up to 30 Travel Scholarships to assist delegates who are attending the 14th Annual Conference. To be eligible for a scholarship applicants must be NHIVNA members for 2012 and be registered for the 14th Annual Conference. The scholarships will cover a contribution of a maximum of £150 which can be used towards accommodation costs (13 and 14 June only at a maximum £50 per night) and travel expenses (maximum £50).  Applications will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis and only upon receipt of a completed application form and conference registration form, with the appropriate payment. An acknowledgement will be sent to you confirming whether or not you have been allocated a scholarship. Original receipts will be required post-conference, and within two weeks of the event, in order for NHIVNA to reimburse monies. Please note that non-NHIVNA members can apply for a NHIVNA Travel Scholarship if their application form is accompanied by a completed NHIVNA membership form and the appropriate payment.

NHIVNA Junior Nurse Scholarships

NHIVNA is offering up to ten NHIVNA Junior Nurse Registration Concession Scholarships to assist junior nurses to attend the NHIVNA Annual Conference 2012. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be NHIVNA members for 2012 and have worked as a nurse in an acute or community setting, caring for people with HIV, for 2 years or less. These scholarships will enable successful applicants to register for the conference at the reduced registration rate of £125. To apply, please send a written statement of your status, signed by your manager, along with your registration form. Applications will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that non-NHIVNA members can apply for a Junior Nurse Scholarship if their registration form is accompanied by a completed NHIVNA membership form and the appropriate payment.
 

NHIVNA First-time Attendee Scholarships

NHIVNA is offering up to ten First-time Attendee Registration Concession Scholarships to assist delegates who are attending a NHIVNA conference for the first time. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be NHIVNA members. These scholarships will enable successful applicants to register for the conference at the reduced registration rate of £125. To apply, please send a written statement along with your registration form. Applications will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that non-NHIVNA members can apply for a scholarship if their registration form is accompanied by a completed NHIVNA membership form and the appropriate payment.
 

NHIVNA Community Registration Support

Community registration places are open to delegates who work in community, voluntary or charitable organisations and are limited. Places will be allocated as fairly as possible, in principle on a first-come, first-served basis, with up to a maximum of two registrations per community group. The award covers registration for the conference only. The deadline to receive applications is 13 April 2012. Please note: it is essential that applications are received by this date in order to be considered for support. To apply for a community registration place please register online via the conference section of the NHIVNA website, selecting the category ‘Community’, or alternatively, download a Registration Form from the website and fax or post this to the Conference Organiser. If your organisation has not registered for NHIVNA conferences previously, then your form needs to be accompanied by a brief résumé of the aims and objectives of your organisation on headed paper. Please note that it is necessary for community registrations to purchase a Gala Dinner ticket if they wish to attend this event.
 

NHIVNA Pre-Conference Study Day Scholarships

NHIVNA is to hold a Pre-Conference Study Day in collaboration with Gilead Sciences. It is planned that NHIVNA Pre-Conference Study Day Scholarships will be available for those who are able to attend, in full, both the NHIVNA Annual Conference on 14–15 June, and the NHIVNA Pre-Conference Study Day on the afternoon of Wednesday 13 June. There will be a maximum of 50 scholarships available and scholarships will cover a contribution of a maximum of £75 towards travel expenses, and a contribution of a maximum of £125 towards accommodation costs (13 and 14 June only). To apply, please tick the appropriate box on the registration form when registering for the NHIVNA conference. Applications will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. An acknowledgement will be sent to you confirming your registration and whether or not you have been allocated a scholarship. Original receipts will be required post-conference, and within two weeks of the event, in order for NHIVNA to reimburse monies. Further details regarding how to register for the Study Day will follow shortly under separate cover.
