NHIVNA Study Days 2008
Following the success of the 2007 NHIVNA Study Day Programme, NHIVNA is launching a new series of study days in 2008. Once again, these will provide an update on the latest developments in clinical practice and will focus on the implementation of the recently published HIV Nursing Competencies.
The HIV nursing competencies enable nurses to have a framework upon which to base their practice and, as such, the study day programme will help nurses to clearly demonstrate how they have kept themselves updated in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework. Each study day will not cover all of the competencies in depth, but rather will focus on the practical incorporation of the competencies in a particular nursing specialty or role. The study days will, as is customary, consist of plenary sessions, group work, discussion and debate and will be held in key cities across the country to enable as many as possible of the NHIVNA membership to be able to attend at least one of the meetings during the year.
Registration includes access to the study day sessions, the exhibition area and lunch and refreshments through the day. Registration will be available to NHIVNA members free of charge, and non-members can register once they have joined as members.
The Study Day Programme has become a key arm for NHIVNA in promoting good practice in the care of people with HIV and NHIVNA would also like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors who have provided educational grants to enable these events to take place, and for attendance at the Study Days to be offered free of charge to our membership.

Cancellation and non-attendance
Please note that in the case of unforeseen circumstances requiring you to cancel your registration it will be possible to swap your registration with a colleague up until the day of the conference. No refunds will be made for cancellation of registration, but non-members will remain members of NHIVNA throughout 2008. If you cancel your registration less than 30 days in advance and you are unable to swap your registration with a colleague, we will do our utmost to find a replacement for you; if we are unable to do this, then a £50 cancellation fee will be due to cover the cost of catering. Any non-attendees on the day who have not provided a minimum 3 days notice will be subject to a penalty fee of £150 as it is unlikely we will be able to replace your registration at this stage, leading to a less-than-full turnout on the day. This fee will also be used to recover costs.
